The St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management got a bit of a review yesterday from FEMA. The Federal Emergency Management Administration as a pair of agency representatives participated in a community workshop. Jeff Freidland heads up the local emergency management office where several programs were reviewed in the session Tuesday, including some youth initiatives that have seen much wider participation than had been expected. An update on the WINS emergency alert and information system was also given. The text-telephone-and-e-mail notification program has grown to around 5,000 users including recent expansions via the Saint Clair County Council on aging.
