It will be up to voters to decide if marijuana will be legalized in Michigan. House lawmakers tried to come up with the votes to pass their own measure — before a ballot initiative this fall. But the votes fell short. Some Republicans have voiced concern the initiative will draw more Democrats to the polls. If approved in November, the proposal would allow those over 21 to use marijuana, but people still wouldn’t be able to use it in a public place or drive under the influence.
