Over 6,000 new computers are now in the hands of Port Huron Area School District students. The Chrome Books, Google’s version of a laptop, were distributed yesterday to every district student. Theo Kerhoulas, Executive Director of Operations and Innovation for Port Huron Schools, says it marks an exciting technological milestone for the district. Speaking to WPHM Tuesday, he says the new technology offers a “whole new way” for students to learn. The district has also deployed several safety features with the Chrome Books to help protect students while they are online, which include the blocking of certain websites. The new technology was funded through the district’s bond proposal that was passed by voters in 2016.
