Port Huron Fire Crews were called to the Black River in Port Huron yesterday afternoon on reports of an oily-sheen that was spotted in the river. Battalion Chief Jeff Tucker tells WPHM authorities were not able to locate the source of the substance. Tucker described the fluid as a hydrocarbon and was first spotted near the Military Street bridge shortly after noon on Monday. He says it at first appeared to be a rather large spill, however,  it quickly dissipated and is now believed to be an isolated incident. For a period on Monday, the oily substance could be seen in the Black River from the 7th Street Bridge to the Port Huron Yacht Club. State and Federal agencies were notified of the release.
