The St. Clair County Office of Emergency Management is warning downriver residents about flooding in the communities of Marine City, Algonac, and East China Township. Officials say the recent cold weather caused excessive ice to form along the St. Clair River, creating jams and causing water to back up along the shoreline. Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard are currently breaking the ice along the St. Clair River. Emergency Manager Jeff Friedland says those seeking assistance due to the flooding can contact their local municipality, and those who need immediate help should call 9-1-1. Officials say if you notice flooding across a roadway, do not drive through it, instead turn around and find an alternate route.
