Kyle Ryan pitched to one batter in the eight and got a double play to earn the win for the Tigers, while Joakim Soria picked up his first save as a Tiger. Game two
Ian Kinsler and JD Martinez each hit a home run and knocked in two runs on Sunday, as the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 6-4 to sweep a three game series at Comerica Park. The win moves the Tigers a game and a half ahead of Kansas City in the Central Division. The Tigers start a three game series in Minnesota on Monday.
The Detroit Lions had three turnovers and missed two field goals on Sunday in a 24-7 loss at Carolina to the Panthers. The loss puts Detroit at 1-1 on the season. Jed Collins had the lone Lions touchdown on a pass from Matt Stafford, who passed for 291 yards in the game. Detroit is home to Green Bay next week.
