CONVENTION CENTER WORK NOT FAR OFF

It's getting closer... that's the Thomas Edison Inn convention center project, which will see a big change along the St. Clair River shoreline once construction gets underway.  St. Clair County Administrator Bill Kauffman says a closing on the sale of the inn itself will come once another part of the project can be put in place. He says a construction manager decision needs to be made by the county. Kauffman says the county board of commissioners and other officials are being very careful with the spending of taxpayer funds for the project.  The board approved a 30-year nine million dollar bond for the building of the convention center.  The project includes a new restaurant,  a Baker College culinary school and a restoration of the inn itself.
