Down 4-1 early, the Detroit Tigers came back for a 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. Alex Avila and Austin Jackson hit home runs in a three run fourth inning to tie the game. In the bottom of the eighth Andy Dirks broke up a double play with a hard slide at second base that allowed the go ahead run to score from third. The Tigers bull pen combined to pitch five scoreless innings after starter Rick Porcello lasted just four innings. The final game of a four game series between the teams is set for Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.
