EXTRA ROAD PATROLS FOR THE HOLIDAY

The Fourth of July holiday is fast approaching and with it an increase in police patrols looking for those who've been drinking and driving.  the "Drunk Driving.  Over the Limit.  Under Arrest." campaign runs from July first through eighth, with 26 counties across the state participating.  Seven counties in Southeast Michigan have received federal funds to help pay for the increased police presence including St. Clair and Macomb counties.  Last year during the Independence Day holiday period three people died in alcohol related traffic accidents.  In 2011, 319 people died in Michigan as a result of alcohol, a 10.6 percent decrease from the previous year.
