Have you heard the bangs and booms from the fireworks in your neighborhood lately? After widespread complaints about noise and possible dangers, Port Huron officials are looking at the possibility of a new ordinance concerning fireworks use or amending a current ordinance to include a clause that would ban lighting off firecrackers while your neighbors are sleeping.  Police Chief Michael Reaves says they're urging residents and visitors to be courteous of others while enjoying the fireworks. Reaves says they're reminding residents that even though state law now allows for bottle rockets and other types of fireworks to be purchased, residents must be certain that the area they are setting off the fireworks is a safe one for explosive devices, and that it's not too close to homes or businesses that would be a fire hazard.  He says fireworks are not allowed on public property, school property, church property or another person’s property without the property owner's consent.
