The Detroit Lions fired head coach Jim Schwartz on Monday afternoon after his fifth season with the franchise ended on a four game losing streak that cost the team a division title and a home playoff game. In five seasons on the job, Schwartz posted a record of (29-51). He had four losing seasons, going (7-9) this year after the team began the season winning six of its first nine games. Schwartz's best season came in 2011 when the Lions won ten games and made the playoffs, losing in a wild card game at New Orleans. The team has yet to name a new head coach.
