The state's largest retailers organization has released a study saying that, in 2015, Michigan would gain more than 74-thousand additional jobs and nine billion dollars in additional economic activity, if Michigan consumers bought from Michigan retailers instead of over the internet or through the mail, otherwise known as "remote" sellers. Port Huron Township was the scene Tuesday for a standoff between St. Clair County Sheriff Deputies and a suspect in a criminal sexual conduct case that ended peacefully.  Sheriff Tim Donnellon says the suspect, a 28-year old man from Port Huron Township, went into a vacant home along the 25-hundred block of Michigan Road in the morning.  Then, shortly after 8:00 a.m., deputies

It was a ribbon cutting ceremony, Tuesday, for the just completed Shea Road project in Ira and Cottrellville Townships.  The project began in late May and Kirk Weston at the St. Clair County Road Commission says the work was much needed. Work included overlaying asphalt, restoring the aggregate shoulders, a cross road culvert replacement at McKinley, and some new pavement
 
Mussey Township will see the Capac Road Bridge over Belle River rehabilitated, with the project set to begin on Monday.  The work will include removing the entire bridge deck and portions of the foundation of the Capac Road Bridge.  The bridge foundation will then be rehabilitated and the bridge deck reconstructed.  The bridge approach roadway will be reconstructed as well.
 
It's a big blast of summer this week, at the Goodells County Park with the annual St. Clair County 4-H and Youth Fair.  The event features animal auctions, carnival rides and lots of other attractions, with local resident Don Walker telling us he became involved with the fair through his kids, who are participants in the poultry competitions. The United Way of St. Clair County will be saying goodbye soon to Executive Director Lonnie Stevens.  She's announced her retirement is to be effective August 1st, with her telling us that while this will mark the second time she's left the organization, this one is for retirement….she had left earlier for another job opportunity. The Detroit Tigers acquired right handed relief pitcher Joakim Soria from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  In the deal Detroit sent pitching prospects Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson to the Rangers.  Soria has pitched seven years in the majors and has 177 career saves and has struck out more hitters than he has pitched innings.  Soria has a club option on his current contract
Miguel Cabrera, Austin Jackson, and Alex Avila all drove in three runs each, as the Detroit Tigers crushed the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon.  Rajai Davis added three hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who open a four game series in Los Angeles on Thursday night against the Angels.
Phil Coke walked two of the three hitters he pitched to and they both came around to score in the bottom of the eighth, as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to beat the Detroit tigers 5-4 on Tuesday night in Phoenix.  Torii Hunter had given the Tigers the lead in the top of the inning with a two run single, but the Detroit bullpen gave the runs right back.  The Tigers and D-Backs wrap up
Miguel cabrera singled in the go ahead run in the seventh inning as the Detroit Tigers beat the Arizona DiamondBacks 4-3 in Phoenix on Monday night.  Torii Hunter and Austin Jackson hit home runs for the Tigers, who have won two in a row.  Game two of the inter-league series is Tuesday night.
Torii Hunter hit a two run home run and Drew Smyly pitched seven strong innings, as the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians on Sunday 5-1 to avoid being swept in a four game series.  Smyly allowed just one run and four hits, while striking out six to earn the win.  The Tigers play in Arizona on Monday night to open a seven game road trip out west.
Carlos Santana hit a three run double in the ninth to break open a 2-2 game and lead the Cleveland Indians to a 5-2 win on Saturday night, and a sweep in a double header.  Chris Dickerson hit two solo home runs for the Tribe, while Austin Jackson drove in both runs for the Tigers.  The final game of a four game series is Sunday in Detroit.  The Tigers have lost four in a row.
Cory Kluber came with in one out of a complete game, as the Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 6-2 in the opening game of a day/night double header Saturday at Comerica Park.  Miguel Cabrera had three hits in the loss for the Tigers.
Down 3-0 after six innings, the Cleveland Indians exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning, on their way to a 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.  The teams will play a day/night double header on Saturday as part of a four game series.
Max Scherzer picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief last night in the All Star Game, as the American League beat the National League 5-3 in Minnesota.  Miguel Cabrera hit a two run home in the first inning of the game.  The Tigers return to play on Friday against Cleveland.
The 90th Mackinac Race ended on Monday night with the pickel boat, Home Brewed crossing the finish line at 10:31.  The yacht is co-owned by Robert Henderson III of Armada.  In re-cap, Windquest was first to finish in 27:46:59 arriving around 5:30 Sunday evening.  The Overall Cove Island winner was Natalie J, while the Division V winner on the Cove Island course was Lucky
