The St. Clair County Board of Commissioners hit the road tomorrow for a regular meeting.  The board will hold their session at the Columbus Township Hall, starting at 6:00 pm.  Agenda items include a water monitoring project update, a facility lease for storage of hazmat and dive team equipment and a renewal of an agreement with a company for lobbying and grant writing

It was in Algonac Monday and Wednesday it's in Port Huron... that's the big annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway as organized by the Women's Initiative of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.  Just in time for the start of a new school year, thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to elementary and middle school children of lower income St.

Two people were killed and one person was injured in a two car crash Monday afternoon. Huron County Sheriff deputies say a car driven by 42-year old Marie Wolschlager of Bad Axe failed to yield the right of way to a pickup truck at an intersection in Sheridan Township. Wolschlager and a passenger were killed in the accident.

The Detroit Tigers made three errors that led to four unearned runs in an 8-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.  Victor Martinez knocked in the only Tigers run as Seattle pitching held Detroit to five hits.  The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday at Tampa Bay.
David Price out dueled Felix Hernandez on Saturday night as the Detroit Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2.  Nick Castellanos had a home run and two RBI to pace a 12 hit Detroit attack.  Price went eight innings and allowed a run on three hits with seven strike outs.  The final game of a three game series is at Comerica Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers 7-2 on Friday night in the opening game of a three game series at Comerica Park.  Ian Kinsler and Victor Martinez knocked in runs for the Tigers, who got two doubles from Miguel Cabrera.  Rick Porcello took the loss, allowing six runs and ten hits in six innings.
Max Scherzer tossed eight shutout innings with a season high 14 strike outs, as the Detroit Tigers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Thursday.  JD Martinez hit a home run and drove in two runs and Nick Castellanos also knocked in a pair of runs for the Tigers, who open a three game series against Seatle on Friday night at Comerica Park.
Victor Martinez had three hits and drove in three runs on Wednesday night, as the Detroit Tigers ended a four game losing streak with an 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates  Nick Castellanos added a triple and a home run, while Alex Avila also hit a home run to pace the Detroit attack.  The two teams play again on Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2 on Tuesday night,  handing the Tigers their fourth straight loss and keeping them in second place in the Central a half game behind Kansas City.  Alex Avila had two hits, including a home run for the Tigers, who host the Pirates Wednesday night at Comerica Park.
Legendary Marysville football coach Walt Braun passes away on Sunday, he was 78.  Braun had a 43 year coaching career which included 300 career wins, 19 St. Clair Area League Championships, four undefeated seasons, and State Titles in 1986 and 1992 with the Vikings.  Services for coach Braun will be held on Friday morning at Walt Braun Viking Stadium on the Marysville High School
The Pittsburgh Pirates scored five runs in the first inning on their way to an 11-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday night in Pittsburgh.  The Tigers have lost three in a row and slipped into second place in the Central a half game behind red hot Kansas City.  Miguel Cabrera had three hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who play in Pittsburgh again Tuesday night.
