The Detroit Red Wings have acquited forward Erik Cole from the Dallas Stars.  the 36 year old Cole is in his 13th NHL season and has scored over 260 goals and won a Stanley Cup.  Detroit sends prospects Mattias Janmark and Mattias Backman, along with a 2015 second round draft pick to the Stars.  The NHL deadline for trades is set for 3 PM Monday.
No. 5 Wisconsin clinched a least a share of the Big Ten title with a 68-61 win over Michigan State on Sunday.  Frank Kaminsky poured in 31 for the Badgers in the win.  Michigan State was led by Bryn Forbes' 21 and Travis Trice's 16.  The Spartans will host Purdue on Wednesday in their regular season home finale.
The Pistons rallied from 21 points down and briefly took the lead in Washington on Saturday night, but eventually lost 99-95 to the Wizards.  Greg Monroe had 21 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 20 for Detroit.   The Pistons play in New Orleans on Wednesday.
The Red Wings finished a brutal six game road trip with a 4-1-1 record, after a 4-3 win in Nashville on Saturday.  Brendan Smith, Drew Miller, Alexey Marchenko, and Tomas Tatar scored for the Wings, who finally return home on Wednesday to face the New York Rangers.
Michigan lost for the sixth time in seven games, falling 66-56 on Saturday at Maryland.  Spike Albrecht and Zak Irvin each had 15 points to lead the Wolverines, who play at Northwestern on Tuesday.
The New York Knicks ended an eight game losing streak with a 121-115 double overtime victory at the Palace on Friday night over the Pistons.  Greg Monroe had 28 points for the Pistons, but missed several key free throws in overtime to cost his team the game.  Andre Drummond had 21 but fouled out in the first OT period.  Detroit is at Washington on Saturday.
Luke Glendening scored with 1:15 left in the third period to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win in San Jose on Thursday night.  Pavel Datsyuk and Teemu Pulkkinen also scored for the Wings, who wrap up a six game road trip on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
The Port Huron High hockey team won the MAC-Blue title out right on Thursday with a 6-3 win over Fraser.  It is the first league title for the Big Reds since 2009-10.  Will Kriewall had a goal and three assist in the victory.  Port Huron will face rival Marysville in the first game of the playoffs on Tuesday, with the winner to face Port Huron Northern on Thursday.
Michigan State was shocked at home 96-90 in overtime by Minnesota.  Denzel Valentine scored 27 and Travis Trice added 21 for the Spartans.  Michigan State travels to Wisconsin this weekend.
The Detroit Pistons led 62-53 at the half, but were held to just 31 second half points, and lost 102-93 to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.  Reggie Jackson had 22 and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 21.  The Pistons host New York at the Palace on Friday.
