The body of a woman from Canada was recovered early Friday morning after she apparently jumped, Thursday night, off of the Blue Water Bridge.  It was at least the third such case reported this year and happened about 10:00 p.m., last night.  The body was found in the Saint Clair River near the Port Huron and Marysville border.  She was identified as a 44-year-old Sarnia
 
The St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is reminding residents that a special local outdoor siren test is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd.  The 12:30 p.m. test will replace the scheduled monthly test that would have happened on Monday September 1st, which is the Labor Day Holiday.  The local tests are conducted monthly to ensure that the
 
One suspect is dead and another is still at large, after an attempted robbery and fatal shooting outside a bank at 16-Mile and Gratiot. It happened Thursday afternoon, at a Bank of America branch in Macomb County's Clinton Township. F.B.I. and local authorities are continuing their investigations into the theft.
 
 
 
The Port Huron Planning Commission next week will take up a proposal about a student building to be used by those attending the Baker College of Port Huron culinary institute, with plans for it to be built along St. Clair Street.  Site plans have been submitted for approval and a public hearing on the item will be held during the Planning Commission's meeting on Tuesday.

After dropping to the low $3.30’s gasoline prices are on the rise in the state despite lower crude oil prices.  The pre-holiday boost sees a price alert issued by gasbuddy.com, with the website suggesting pumps could be set soon at $3.70 per gallon or higher.
 
 
Ian Kinsler and Torii Hunter each drove in two runs and JD Martinez had three hits as the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 7-1 on Friday night in Chicago.  Justin Verlander scattered nine hits over seven innings and struck out eight for the win.  The teams will play a day-night double header on Saturday.

The Detroit Lions shutout the Buffalo Bills 23-0 on Thursday to close out the pre-season.  Kellen Moore was 17 of 28 for 172 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions, who open the regular season on September 8 against the New York Giants.
Bret Zihlavsky caught two touchdown passes and threw one, as Richmond opened the high school football season with a 47-0 win at Marysville on Thursday night.  Stefan Fenwick rushed for 112 yards, 95 on a fourth quarter touchdown run.  First year starter Trevor Barrett threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Alex Avila drove in two runs, including the game winner in the bottom of the ninth, as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 3-2 on Thursday at Comerica Park.  Detroit heads to Chicago to start a four game series with the White Sox on Friday night.
David Price allowed nine consecutive hits in the third inning, as the New York Yankees scored all eight of their runs to take an 8-4 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday night.  Victor Martinez hit a solo home runs for the Tigers, who also got RBI from Miguel Cabrera, Torii Hunter, and Nick Castellanos.  The final game of a three game series is set for Thursday afternoon at Comerica
Rick Porcello scattered nine hits over eight innings and pitched the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.  JD Martinez had three hits for Detroit, and scored two runs while knocking in one.  The second game of a three game series is set for Wednesday night.
The Detroit Tigers blasted out 18 hits and beat the Minnesota Twins 13-4 on Sunday to earn a split in a four game series.  Victor Martinez had three hits, including a home run, and knocked in four runs, while Torii Hunter added two hits and four RBI.  Max Scherzer picked up the win, his 15th of the year.  The Tigers open a three game series with the Yankees in Detroit on Tuesday.
The Detroit Tigers pounded out 17 hits in the night cap and beat the Minnesota Twins 8-6 on Saturday night to gain a split in a day-night double header.  Nick Castellanos and Eugenio Suarez each knocked in two runs, while Torii Hunter, Victor Martinez, and JD Martinez all had three hits.  The Tigers and Twins wrap up a four game series on Sunday afternoon in Minnesota.
