The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced that the west-bound span of the Blue Water Bridge will reopen to traffic next week. MDOT spokeswoman Diane Cross says that resurfacing work on the original span of the bridge will soon be completed.

The Pittsburgh Pirates smacked out 21 hits, including four home runs, on their way to a 9-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday night.  Neil Walker had four hits, including two home runs.  James McCann had a solo home run for the Tigers, who have lost two in a row.  The final game of a three game series is set for Thursday afternoon.
On the first day on NHL free agency the Detroit Red Wings landed two players, signing defenseman Mike Green and forward Brad Richards.  Green, who has spent 10 years in Washington, got a three year deal worth $18 million.  He had several big seasons early in his career, but then suffered though four seasons plagued with injuries.  Last season Green was healthy again for the

James McCann hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday to lift the Detroit Tigers to a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox.  Victor Martinez hit a big three run double in the eighth inning as the Tigers came back from 4-0 down to tie the game.  Detroit has won two in a row.
JD Martinez hit a solo home run in the 8th inning on Friday night to lift the Detroit Tigers to a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox.  The win ended a two game losing streak for the Tigers.  Rajai Davis also hit a home run, while Miguel Cabrera hit three doubles and knocked in one for the Tigers.  Game three of a four game series is set for Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.

A three game win streak came to a crashing end on Wednesday, with an 8-2 loss in Cleveland for the Tigers.  JD Martinez hit a two run home run for Detroit, but the Tigers had just five total hits in the game.  Detroit begins a ten game home stand on Thursday afternoon when they face the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park, in the first game of a four game weekend series.
David Price held Cleveland to one run over six and two-thirds innings on Tuesday, as the Tigers won in Cleveland 7-3.  Detroit blew open a 1-1 tie with six runs in the fifth inning.  Yoenis Cespedes and Nick Castellanos each drove in two runs, while Andrew Romine added a home run.  The Tigers have won three in a row, including the first two games of this series, and go for a sweep
