Kansas City came out swinging and beat the Tigers 8-1 on Thursday night in the first game of a four game series in KC.  The win moves the Royals into first place a half game ahead of Detroit.  Six different players drove in a run for Kansas City, while Rajai Davis knocked in the lone run for the Tigers.  Game two of the series is set for Friday night.

Petr Mrazek posted his second shutout of the series, as the Red Wings beat Tampa Bay 4-0 on Saturday to take a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven playoff series.  Riley Sheahan, Drew Miller, Pavel Datsyuk, and Dan Dekeyser scored for the Wings.  Game six is in Detroit on Monday.
