AAA Michigan reports gasoline prices down for another week with the state average at about $3.50 which is nearly 12-cents a gallon less than last week and nearly a quarter less than this time last year. Port Huron area pumps were charging under $3.30 this morning at many locations.
 
 
Using drones for hunting was the subject of a hearing recently in Lansing. Local State Senator Phil Pavlov sponsored a bill that would ban the use of unmanned aircraft for hunting purposes in Michigan. The St. Clair Township Republican says that banning

WSAQ morning host, Chuck Santoni, has spent the last week living on the roof of the Birchwood Mall as a benefit for the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council. Port Huron Police say a 36-year-old city resident has been arraigned on charges of armed robbery, from the Manis Restaurant incident, this week. Devin Ellis was arraigned Wednesday. Police say, in addition to and in connection with Ellis a 39-year old Port Huron woman, BillieJo Levitt was charged with Accessory After the Fact of a Felony.

They've served the deaf, hard of hearing and disadvantaged families in St. Clair County for several decades... that's the Quota Club International of Port Huron, making a sizeable donation to help others. The local Quota Club has donated over $57,000 this year. Some of the highlights include McMorran Place receiving a $10,000 donation for a Hearing Loop System in the auditorium

City Manager James Freed is looking at several ways to help Port Huron’s finances.  In talking on the Paul Miller show, Thursday, he said incremental increases the past few years for water rates are not helping the city pay down the debt. The Detroit Tigers opened their final home stand of the regular season on Monday night with a 2-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox.  Tyler Flowers hit a two run home run in the second inning for the only runs of the game.  The second game of a three game series is set for Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings opened the pre-season with a 2-1 win in Pittsburgh on Monday night.  Tomas Tatar also had a goal for the Wings, who play in Chicago on Tuesday.
The Kansas City Royals avoided a three game sweep with a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.  Ian Kinsler hit a home run for the Tigers, who lead the Central by a game and a half with seven games to play.  The Tigers open a three game series with the Chicago White Sox on Monday night at Comerica Park.
The Lions defense stopped Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and scored the first nine points of the game for Detroit, in a 19-7 win.  Donald Carey picked up a fumble and returned it 40 yards for the first Lions touchdown.  The Detroit defense followed that with a safety.  Reggie Bush also scored for the Lions on a 26 yard run.  Bush had 61 yards rushing and 38
The Michigan Wolverines fell to (2-2) on the season, losing at home to Utah 26-10 on Saturday.  Willie Henry scored on a seven yard interception return for the lone U of M touchdown in the game.  Michigan opens Big Ten play next Saturday in Ann Arbor against Minnesota.

No. 11 Michigan State rolled to a 49-0 half time lead and crushed Eastern Michigan 73-14 on Saturday in East Lansing.  Delton Williams rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on just ten carries.  State will host Wyoming next Saturday.
The Detroit Tigers belted out 19 hits and beat the Kansas City Royals 10-1 on Friday night to move a game and a half up in the Central Division.  Ian Kinsler had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in three runs for the Tigers, who face the Royals in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three game series.
Tahson Winters retruned a fumble and an interception in the 4th quarter to seal a 37-22 Port Huron High victory over Grosse Pointe South at Memorial Stadium.  DeAngelo Sanderson rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns for PHHS, who improved to (3-1) overall and (3-0) in the MAC-White.
The lowely Minnesota Twins took two out of three from the Detroit Tigers, with an 8-4 win in Minnesota on Wednesday night.  The Tigers lead over Kansas City slipped to a half game as the teams prepare to meet in Kansas City for a three game series that will begin on Friday night.  Miguel Cabrera had four hits, including two doubles, and an RBI in the loss.
