One woman is dead and ten others injured after an accident involving a parade vehicle Saturday. The Lapeer County Sheriff's Office says 80-year-old Jeanette Rumptz died at the scene after she turned into the path of a specialized novelty vehicle that was heading to the Metamora Country Days Parade. Rick Porcello scattered nine hits over eight innings and pitched the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.  JD Martinez had three hits for Detroit, and scored two runs while knocking in one.  The second game of a three game series is set for Wednesday night.
The Detroit Tigers blasted out 18 hits and beat the Minnesota Twins 13-4 on Sunday to earn a split in a four game series.  Victor Martinez had three hits, including a home run, and knocked in four runs, while Torii Hunter added two hits and four RBI.  Max Scherzer picked up the win, his 15th of the year.  The Tigers open a three game series with the Yankees in Detroit on Tuesday.
The Detroit Tigers pounded out 17 hits in the night cap and beat the Minnesota Twins 8-6 on Saturday night to gain a split in a day-night double header.  Nick Castellanos and Eugenio Suarez each knocked in two runs, while Torii Hunter, Victor Martinez, and JD Martinez all had three hits.  The Tigers and Twins wrap up a four game series on Sunday afternoon in Minnesota.
A six run second inning got the Minnesota Twins off and running, on their way to a 12-4 win over the Detroit Tigers in the first game of a double header on Saturday.  Kennys Vargas hit two doubles and drove in five runs for the Twins, who also got three RBI each from Joe Mauer and Jordan Schafer.  In two games the Twins have scored 32 runs on 34 hits against Detroit pitching.

The Detroit Lions beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 13-12 on Friday night in pre-season action at Ford Field.  Reggie Bush had two carries for 95 yards and scored on an 86 yard run for the Lions, who also got a one yard TD run from George Winn.  Matt Stafford was 10 of 16 for 98 yards and Dan Orlovsky completed nine of eleven passes for 74 yards.  The Lions (2-1) close out the

Rick Porcello tossed his third complete game shutout of the season on Wednesday night as the Detroit Tigers blanked the Tampa Bay Rays 6-0 in Tampa.  Porcello held the Rays to three hits and did not walk a batter to win his 14th game of the year.  Victor Martinez hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for the Tigers.  Detroit goes for a sweep in the three game series on Thursday
