The Detroit Pistons lost their fourth straight game, getting embarrassed by the lowly Philadelphia 76ers 89-69.   The Sixers jumped out to a 24-4 lead in the opening quarter and never had their lead get below nine points.  Greg Monroe had 20 and Jodie Meeks 19 for the Pistons, who host Houston on Saturday at the Palace.
The Detroit Red Wings won their sixth straight game on Tuesday, beating the Florida Panthers 5-4.  Luke Glendening scored two goals and Stephen Weiss added a goal and two assists for the Wings.  Detroit moved into first place, one point ahead of Tampa Bay, who they play in Tampa on Thursday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers got huge performances from Kyrie Irving and LeBron James to beat the Pistons 103-95 on Tuesday night at the Palace.  Irving finished with 38 points and James with 32.  DJ Augustin led the Pistons with 19, while Greg Monroe scored 17, and Anthony Tolliver 16.  The Pistons play at Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Michigan picked up a needed home win on Tuesday night, knocking off Nebraska in Ann Arbor 58-44.  Zak Irvin had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Wolverines, while Aubrey Dawkins scored 13 and Max Bielfeldt 12.  Michigan is off until Sunday, when they play at Michigan State.
The Detroit Pistons found out before their game in Toronto on Sunday that guard Brandon Jennings was out for the rest of the season with a tore left achilles, suffered Saturday in a loss at Milwaukee.  Jennings will need surgery and should miss 7-12 months.  Detroit lost in Toronto 114-110 on Sunday, despite getting 35 points from Jennings replacement, DJ Augustin.  Greg
Milwaukee led by as many as 30 on Saturday night and cruised to a 101-86 win over the Pistons in Wisconsin.  Brandon Jennings led the Pistons with 16 points, but left the game with a leg injury.  The Pistons play Toronto on Sunday.
Michigan battled No. 6 Wisconsin into overtime on Saturday, before falling 69-64 to the Badgers.  Derrick Walton had 17 and Zak Irvin 12 for the Wolverines.  Michigan will host Nebraska on Tuesday.
Michigan State could not survive a bad first half and lost on the road at Nebraska on Saturday 79-77.  Travis Trice scored 27 points to lead MSU, while Danzel Valentine added 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Brandon Dawson chipped in eight points and 18 boards.  The Spartans are at Rutgers on Tuesday.
Detroit starters scored 98 points on Wednesday in a 128-118 win over the Orlando Magic at the Palace.  Andre Drummond scored 26 points with 16 rebounds, while Brandon Jennings had 24 points and an NBA season best 21 assists, and Greg Monroe finished with 24 points and ten boards, all to pace the Pistons attack.  Detroit plays at Milwaukee on Saturday.
Michigan State had five players with ten points or more and held off Penn State 66-60 on Wednesday night in East Lansing.  Branden Dawson (12 points, ten rebounds) and Gavin Schilling (11 points, ten rebounds) both had double-doubles for the Spartans.  DJ Newbill kept Penn State close with a game high 27 points.  The Spartans play at Nebraska on Saturday.
