Marine City used a 35 points second quarter on Friday night to roll past Marysville 55-18 in MAC-Gold football action at Viking Stadium. The teams combined to scored four touchdowns in a 71 second span late in the first half. Jarrett Mathison rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and also returned an interception 75 yards for another scored for the Mariners. Team mate Tait Sapienza added 111 yards on the ground and two scores and Pete Patsalis scored on a 3 yard run and a 70 yard pass. Patsalis had 135 yards recieving on just two catches. Marysville's Cole Pawson caught two touchdown passes and Branden Stevenson rushed for 132 yards. The Mariners have beaten the Vikings 12 straight times dating back to 2003. Marine City is (7-0) overall and (4-0) in the Gold and will play St. Clair next week for the league championship.
