With the holiday season comes the Old Newsboys annual drive to provide Christmas gifts of coats and shoes and other basic clothing items for kids in need in St. Clair County. The local group's Ed Weichsler tells us the volunteers will be out on the streets selling the newspapers on Friday the 30th and Saturday December 1st, with donations and contributions also welcome as they attempt to raise their campaign goal of $72-thousand 500-dollars. Weichsler says many local children wouldn't receive any holiday gifts if it weren't for the fundraiser. The event has been going on for about 80-years, and motorists will see the Old Newsboys out and about along the streets of Port Huron, Port Huron Township and Marysville.
