Port Huron City Council meets for their first regular session meeting of 2019 tonight, with several items up for consideration. On the agenda includes the purchase of two new pickup trucks, a Ford F-450 and a Ford F-250 to be used by the city’s utilities and fire departments respectively. Council is also being asked to approve a $193,000 dollar water tower painting bid from L and T Painting for the rehab of the interior of the city’s south side water tower. A bid from Sanctum Construction for improvements to the Black River Scenic Walk will also need the approval from city council. The $66,000 dollar bid will be funded by grants received from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The proposed improvements include adding an additional A.D.A. accessible kayak launch, a picnic area, and signage.  Also expected tonight is the second reading an enactment of an ordinance that would rezone a vacant lot at 1912 24th Street from residential to light industrial. Tonight’s Port Huron City Council Meeting starts at 7:00pm at the city’s municipal office center.
