A shooting incident on Port Huron's south side late last week saw non-life threatening injuries to the victim, with a Detroit man arraigned on several charges. Port Huron Police say the incident happened Friday inside a party store at Griswold and 20th Street when a suspect entered the store and approached another man. The suspect produced a handgun and fired one shot at the victim, which hit him in the leg. Officials say the incident is believed to have been over an ongoing dispute. The suspect fled the scene and was arrested a short time later, while the victim, a 27-year old Detroit resident, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect is 39-year old Ellis Bookrum... and he's been charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony Firearm, and Habitual Offender. He's at the St. Clair County Jail and will be back in court soon for a preliminary exam.
