TUESDAYS BALLOT INCLUDES ROAD MILLAGE ASKING

Tuesday is municipal election day for most of Michigan and somewhat lost in the political shuffle for votes is a street millage renewal that appears on the Port Huron ballots. City Engineer, Robert Clegg, says an important part of the help in maintaining that system is a road millage first instituted in 1994. The millage draws just over a million dollars which is then used to secure larger grants from the state and federal governments.  It also allows for certain road project improvements that can tie into sewer and water work so that, when a street tear up program starts, one can fully complete the project with new curbs, sewer, and water.
