Win Streak Snapped

A missed call by umpries cost the Detroit Tigers three runs, and they never recovered on Monday afternoon in Boston, losing to the Red Sox 7-4.  Jim Leyland and Gene Lamont were ejected from the game after Mike Aviles appeared to strike out to end the second inning.  However, umpires ruled the play a foul ball and allowed Aviles to continue his at bat, in which he eventually got an RBI single and the next two Boston batters also followed with RBI hts to blow open a 1-1 game.   The three runs turned out to be the deference in the game.   Delmon Young and Gerald Laird drove in the first two Tigers runs with solo home runs, and Jhonny Peralta hit a two run homer in the ninth.  Game two of a four game series is set for Tuesday night.
