The Detroit Red Wings filled a vacancy on their coaching staff on Thursday by hiring 57 year old Tom Renney. Renney has formerly been a head coach in the NHL with Vancouver, The New York Rangers, and Edmonton. He has a 260-255-77 career mark in 592 games and is 11-13 in playoff games. Renney aslo coached Canada to a silver medal in the Norway Olympics. He will join Mike Babcock's staff as an assistant.
