ST. CLAIR COUNTY HONORS AREA LAKES AND RIVERS WITH RIVER DAY

This weekend’s River Day was celebrated in style with a dozen sites scattered through out St. Clair County offering a variety of water-based games and activities to families all with the slogan “Choose Your Adventure”.  Locations such as Vantage Point in Port Huron, Pine Shores Golf Course in St. Clair and a number of Marine City’s public beaches featured a fishing clinic which provided participants with fishing equipment, bait and tackle boxes all free of charge.  Clay Township’s Decker’s Landing and the St. Clair Boat Harbor offered paddling aplenty with instructional canoe and kayak rides.  Several community parks like the Baker’s Field Riverfront and Columbus County held their grand openings while the Blue Water YMCA hosted swimmer safety courses.  A native plant kit sale at the Pine River Nature Center and a household hazardous waste collection in Algonac rounded out the weekend’s activities.  River Day offers family and friends the chance to enjoy Michigan’s outdoors while helping participants to understand how they can be better stewards of the natural resources that they enjoy.
