Despite recommendations from the City Police Chief Port Huron City Council Monday night voted for keeping the current contract with Don’s Towing.  The company is located within the city while the apparent low bidder, Preferred Towing, is located in Fort Gratiot Township.  A committee with the police department  had recommended Preferred after request for proposals were returned.  They in part had a lower per-tow fee. Don’s has been the towing service for the Police department for several decades
