UNITED WAY PEACE POLE WALK NEXT WEEK
Something more than just a remembrance... that's what the United Way of St. Clair County will be doing next week as they not only hold a 9-11 memorial with their Peace Pole Walk but also kickoff their annual fundraising campaign. The organization's Lonnie Stevens says with the tenth anniversary of September 11th last year, communities across the nation were asked to keep track of their volunteer hours, so that the events of that day in 2001 could remind us about serving locally. Stevens says the fundraising campaign this year will prioritize and emphasize basic human needs such as food and shelter, due to continuing struggles in the community following the economic recession. The Port Huron Masonic Temple will serve as host for the Tuesday event next week, which starts at 7:30 a.m.
