The Michigan Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration and Norfolk Southern Railway reached an agreement that transfers ownership of 135 miles of railroad track between Dearborn and Kalamazoo from the railroad to M-DOT.  This is the route the Wolverine and Blue Water passenger trains use to get to and from Chicago.  Once M-DOT takes control of this stretch of track, improvements will be made that will allow for train speeds up to 110 miles per hour.  Official say within four years, 30-minutes will be reduced in the travel time to Chicago.
