St. Clair County officials say an incident in St. Clair Township in Ontario, Canada is producing odors that residents near the St. Clair River may smell. Shell Canada experienced a crude oil tank leak at their facility in Ontario Thursday afternoon and Shell is allowing crude to flow to an oily water separator. They're estimating the pump-out time to be up to 4 days and the possibility of an odor may be present over the next couple days. There's no immediate threat to the citizens of St. Clair County and Canadian and U.S. authorities are monitoring of the situation. Also, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has indicated that there is no threat to the St. Clair River. The cities of Port Huron and Marysville are also monitoring the air quality as a precautionary measure.
