WICKED WINTER WINDS CAUSE POWER OUTAGES

Damage from winds Saturday night continue to be repaired by Michigan utility companies.  Both DTE Energy and Consumers Energy still have power outages to contend with.  At the height of the event almost 200-thousand lost juice across the lower peninsula.  Here in the Bluewater area there are still several thousand out.  2,400 in the Capac Mussey Township district where a warming station was established over the weekend to help with those who were without heat.  Tuscola, Huron, and Macomb counties each have over 2,000 without power as of early this morning according to DTE.  Add 1,700 more in Lapeer County, and 1,000 in Sanilac.  A utility spokesman says to expect 90-percent of those customers still without power to have it restored by Monday evening. There were just a handful of school closings this morning because of the outages including Capac, Deckerville, Harbor Beach, Bad Axe, and Ubly.
