UNITED WAY EXCEEDS GOAL

They did it...and then some. That's the United Way of St. Clair County which managed to not only meet but exceed a one-point-four million dollar goal.  A campaign celebration was held Thursday night at the Angry Bull where Executive Director Lonnie Stevens noted a goodly amount was donated in the last couple of weeks. They had been down over 10-thousand dollars less than 14-days ago. There are five individual initiatives that the United Way locally works on including the Dental Clinic, the Imagination Library, and the task of helping citizens find jobs.  In addition various help is given to about 18 local non-profit organizations. Campaign Chair Jeff Beckett, owner of Port City Companies, thanked volunteers and donors for all of their hard work.  The evening's theme was a salute to all the special events that are held at work sites and throughout the community that bring in extra dollars.
