BIG DROP IN GASOLINE PRICES

Finally some relief at the gas pumps this week. AAA-Michigan says, this week's statewide average of $3.50 per gallon is down almost 16-cents from a week ago and, it's 49-cents less than one year ago at this time. The reason? Over-production. The auto club says U.S. refiners have been producing so much gas that it verges on a glut, and in order to move the plentiful gallons, they've been slashing wholesale prices to their marketers and retailers. Monday saw local pumps, in the Blue Water Area, asking around $3.40 a gallon on average, down about 20-cents a gallon from last week's prices.
