Officials, with St. Clair County District Court, say the woman accused of dumping her mother's dead body next to a dumpster, in Port Huron Township in March, is now charged with open murder. 49-year old Kelly Rhodes, of Oregon, originally was charged with removing a dead body without medical examiner's permission, a one year misdemeanor. Officials say, Rhodes left the dead body of her mother, 89-year-old Mary Gertrude Grenia, behind the Goodwill store. The woman had been dead for some time when discovered and, an autopsy was performed, but authorities will not comment on the autopsy results nor the murder charge. A tip from a citizen led detectives to Rhodes, who was staying with relatives in Illinois. She’s lodged at the St. Clair County Jail and due back in court on the 25th.
