Five league titles were decided on Friday night in week eight of the high school football season. At Memorial Stadium Warren Mott scored with about a minute to play in the game to eke out a 26-20 win over Port Huron High and remain unbeaten and claim the MAC-White championship. The Big Reds were trying to defend their title from a year ago and led for most of the game. At East China Stadium St. Clair got off to an early 22-0 lead and then held off Marine City 43-33 to win the MAC-Gold title. The Saints beat the Mariners for only the third time in 30 years. The win ended a seven game losing streak for St. Clair against Marine City and gave the Saints their first league title since 1980. The Mariners had won or had a share of the Gold crown nine years in a row. Richmond won the BWAC title out right with a 42-28 win over Yale. Harbor Beach stomped on Marlette 56-7 to with the GTCE crown. Peck beat Deckerville 46-8 in 8-man football to win the NTCL championship.
