SAINT CLAIR LOOKING TO UPDATE ORDINANCE LANGUAGE

The city of St. Clair is looking at amending an ordinance dealing with malicious destruction of property.  A City Council session last week saw discussion on the item, with City Clerk Janice Winn saying it has to do with removing the word "personal" from the line about destruction of property, in regards to structures, buildings, homes, fences and the like. Winn says a recent incident of vandalism to a home had to be referred to the St. Clair County Prosecutor's Office for possible charges and could not be prosecuted in the city itself due to the limiting language of the ordinance.  The ordinance originally only  referred to "personal" property.
