GRANT SOUGHT TO STUDY HEALTH DEPT COST SAVINGS

With the state of Michigan making the push for more regional cooperation and even consolidation, the St. Clair County and Sanilac County Health Departments are seeking a state grant for a feasibility study on where they might build in more efficiencies into their health care systems.  Dr. Annette Mercatante, the county's Chief Medical Officer, says the grant is supported by a variety of state and local departments including the Board of Commissioners of both Sanilac and St. Clair County. Dr. Mercatante says she and the Sanilac County Medical Chief have been talking about the issue for some time now, and being ahead of the game by looking to have a plan in place should state-mandated changes occur.
