2014 will start with a search for a new Port Huron City Manager. Mayor Pauline Repp says with current City Manager Bruce Brown set to retire in July, the council will again take up the search process. She says given Brown's spearheading of economic development projects and other skills, his shoes will be difficult to fill. Mayor Repp says as she looks back on the past year she's thrilled with what's happened, in terms of the number of local projects that have provided employment opportunities and the projects that have generated excitement and garnered attention, such as the Baker College culinary school, the new Double Tree by Hilton, and the still to come convention center development along the Thomas Edison Parkway. She says 2014 will also see the city starting to make progress on the blight and rental issue, with new ordinances and amendments in place that aim to better the neighborhoods.
