Stupid News for 4/2/14

A Georgia soldier was tired of doing battle with his daughter about her messy bedroom so he carried out a sneak attack on Monday and moved all of her possessions into the family driveway while she was at school. He left a sign on her stuff that read, "Haley, room moved to driveway. Clean it next time." He said that she was upset with the unexpected move and called his tactic "extreme." In order to improve things in Haley’s room, the father has hired a painter to come in and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. The father hopes that the new paint job will inspire Haley to keep her quarters cleaner from now on.

Some hearing-impaired California residents attempting to sign up for health insurance through the Covered California website got a surprise -- and it wasn’t just long wait times. A page on the site allowing users to compare coverage costs listed a phone number for the hearing-impaired, 1-888-899-4500, which was just one digit off from the correct "Contact Us" number. The incorrect number is for a hotline that offers up hot ladies instead of health insurance. A recording says, "Welcome to America’s hottest talk line. Ladies, to talk to interesting and exciting guys free, press one now. Guys, hot ladies are waiting to talk to you. Press two to connect free now" A rep denies that there was ever a mistake, and it can no longer be seen on the website.

A Mississippi church got into the April Fool’s spirit a little early by playing a trick on its congregation with “a special guest” on Sunday night. When the members of Bethlehem Community Church showed up to worship on Sunday, they saw a man who looked strikingly like George W. Bush on stage surrounded by men who appeared to be in the Secret Service. A local newspaper posted a photo of "Bush" in a Facebook post after apparently being fooled by Florida man John Morgan. Morgan has been impersonating the former president for the last 12 years.
