Stupid News for 7/23/14

A Michigan woman who tried to use a shotgun to "make a point" during a family argument ended up shooting herself in the face. After grabbing the gun, the woman slammed its butt-end onto the floor, causing the gun to go off and fire into her face. When police responded after receiving reports of a gunshot victim, they found her with a facial wound. She reportedly told officers that she wanted to use the firearm to "make a point." She was taken to the hospital and she is expected to make a full recovery. Police will continue to investigate the incident, but no charges have been filed at this time.

A 12-year-old Florida boy was arrested for the second time in a month after he took a school bus for a joyride. During his unsanctioned trip back in June, Michael Propst took a school bus to Walmart. The second theft occurred less than 24 hours after Propst made a court appearance for taking the first bus. In order to get the bus this time, Propst stole a car from his aunt and took it to Parker Elementary. After taking the bus, he drove it for more than two hours. A police rep said, "Our initial reaction was 'oh no, not again.'" When we were advised that it was the same juvenile driving the bus that had been responsible for the last bus theft from Parker we said 'No way. '"  The officer who returned Propst home after he was picked up said, "He's not unruly or resists arrest or anything of that nature from what I understand. He's just into stealing vehicles."

Three Florida teens picked the wrong car to try to burglarize. An undercover detective was watching an area of town after police received reports of teens going around and opening the doors of parked cars. As he sat in the car, the detective observed three teenagers -- girls ages 13 and 15 and a 14-year-old boy -- trying the doors of parked cars in the area. Unaware that he was inside, the teens tried the door of the detective's car. The detective was unfazed by getting involved in the action and arrested the trio. All three teens were charged with possession of burglary tools and burglary on a vehicle. The male suspect received additional charges because he tried to run away from the officer.
