Stupid News for 7/30/14

A Mississippi man who took off following a traffic stop in Biloxi forgot that it's important to look before you leap, and he ended up running into a police academy. To make matters even worse for Roger Beasley Jr., there was an active training session taking place at the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy when he dashed through the doors. The 30-year-old apparently didn't notice, or disregarded, the marked police cars that were parked outside the training facility.  After unknowingly running into the academy, Beasley was arrested on numerous charges.

A Washington man opted to dive out of a moving car instead of continuing to argue with his girlfriend as they cruised around town. When the man bailed out of the passenger seat of the moving vehicle, it happened to be in front of an officer from the Police Department. The officer observed the driver of the car, Alice Finley, accelerate away from the man while yelling at him. After the officer turned on his siren and attempted to pull Finley over, she wouldn't stop. She only slowed down long enough so that the man who had originally jumped out of the car could dive back through its passenger window. Finley finally pulled over, but it took the officer a considerable amount of effort to arrest her because she reportedly wouldn't turn off the engine or leave the vehicle. She told the arresting officer "she didn't stop because she and her boyfriend were arguing and she didn't want to deal with it."  That's when the boyfriend informed police he initially jumped from the car because he didn't want to argue with Finley anymore. She was charged with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.

A Missouri sheriff is resigning amid allegations that he brought inmates to bars in a private vehicle. Schuyler County Sheriff Josh Dole reportedly brought some inmates to a Knox County bar and another inmate to watering hole in Sullivan County. He is also accused of bringing two inmates to his house to do work at his home. The accusations caused Dole to submit his letter of resignation. Dole wrote that "the events of the past couple of weeks" made him decide to step down in "the best interests of Schuyler County" and that he would be resigning "with a heavy heart."
