FORMER MAYOR MOELLER TO BE MISSED AT CITY HALL

An enormous loss... that's the view of some citizens as the death of Port Huron City Councilmember and former Mayor Brian Moeller was announced.  He passed away Tuesday at the age of 59.  Last year saw Moeller diagnosed with cancer, with him undergoing treatment and making an apparent recovery earlier this year, only to have the cancer return.  Tom Seppo of local ministry Operation Transformation was a longtime friend of Moeller's, as they attended Port Huron High School together, and he says his prayers and best wishes are for Moeller's family. Moeller is survived by his wife Diane and their 8 children.  Mayor Pauline Repp says Moeller was a strong personality on the council with his own, sometimes outspoken opinions, as well as a dedicated servant of the city and its residents.  She says Moeller always did extensive research on issues and listened to others, and had the unique ability to change his mind should the need arise.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Thursday and 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday at the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm Saturday at the Ross Bible Church.  For the council, the city's charter dictates that the next highest vote receiver in the most recent election be offered the vacant seat.  That would be former member Rachel Cole.
