HEALTH DEPARTMENT ADVISES TO CHECK IMMUNIZATIONS

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and while vaccines are important for people of all ages, they're vital for students about to return to their classrooms.  Margaret Sturgis at the St. Clair County Health Department says from pre-school to college vaccines are necessary.  Booster shots she says are often forgotten about during middle school years. Sturgis says failing to inoculate children for childhood diseases also puts other children at risk, and without them, debilitating diseases or even death can occur.  She says if a parent isn't sure where their child is at in terms of needed vaccinations they can contact the Health Department for assistance.  Call 987-5300.
