Port Huron Township has had several road projects which have diverted drivers for quite a while. The latest road work has been on Water Street. Robert Lewandowski, Township Supervisor, spoke with our Paul Miller, he says it's been difficult, but the work is necessary. The road will is being completely replaced and will become a wider two lane road with a pedestrian pathway on the right hand side. Along with the water street road work the township also has the I-94/I-69 project and hopefully within the next month and a half the Michigan road crossing over I-69/94, which has been closed for over two years, should finally be reopened. Lewandowski says he believes local commerce has been affected by the construction project. The township has other projects its working on, such as Bakersfield Park. The park recently received a 20×20 ft pavilion from Lowes with their "Give back to the community" program, the pavilion should be open for the Paddle n Pour festival. The event takes place September 12, and this is the first year the event will be held at the park.
