Come out and celebrate with the SONS Outreach organization this Thursday, as they express their gratitude to the anonymous donor for their generous gift of land. The event runs from 5-6pm and will be held on the property, located at 3001 Electric Avenue. Thursday's theme is "Because the father cares", and festivities include; a candle lighting ceremony, an expression of thanks for the gift of land, as well as thanks for all those that have helped the non-profit over their 23 year history. For years Tyrone Burrell, Executive Director for SONS Outreach, has said that piece of land would be a beautiful location for their community center. Burrell notes that SONS has helped over 5,000 kids this year throughout the community. He went on to say the community center would also allow for recreation and a spiritual component, along with offering academic support. SONS plans on building a community center on the site, but no construction date has been set as they are still working on funding the project.
