Crazy night at City Council

Steve Pastewski

Steve Pastewski

Regular meeting Monday night for the Port Huron City Council, but hardly ordinary as an arrest warrant that was issued prior to the meeting for Steve Pastewski, owner of the Military Street Music Cafe, for assault charges stemming from an incident at the bar in the early morning hours of March 13th. During the meeting, Chief of Police Michael Reaves showed video footage on the night in question, confiscated from the bar, showing Pastewski assaulting an employee. Officers were waiting to take him into custody after the meeting, but he was allowed to turn himself into police by noon Tuesday. Chief Reaves says that other arrest warrants will be issued, relating to the assaults seen on the video. The city council is also recommending that the Michigan Liquor Control Commission not renew the music cafe’s liquor license. A report from Chief Reaves and the videotape will also be submitted to the commission. The commission will make their decision in May.
