The McMorran Pavilion is now officially in the hands of the St. Clair County Community College, as the deal between the city of Port Huron and the college was closed on Friday. Renovations will begin this week, with the college planning to have the building opened by this Fall. The pavilion will now be known as the Sc4 Field House and will be the home of the college’s athletic teams. The buildings HVAC system will be replaced in the first phase of the project; hardwood floors will be installed and bleachers added to seat 750 people. Future plans involve adding the Sc4 Fitness Center, increasing the seating capacity to near 2,000 and installing an elevated walking track above the bleachers. The college says, the facility will still be available for community use, youth and high school athletic tournaments, as well as camps and other activities.
