If your heading down to Metro Detroit expect to see some lane closures starting this week at all times on both weekdays and weekends. According to MDOT,the Freeway Lighting Partners will begin their upgrades to outdated and broken freeway lights in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. The FLP will be replacing these lights with energy efficient LED lights, to oblige with the 15-year P3 freeway lighting contract. As mandated by the contract, 90 percent of those lights will be operational after the first year. The agreement is expected to save valuable tax dollars over the life of the contract.
